Family Medicine Residency Program

Being far from friends and family, I was especially interested in a residency program that promoted an inviting and supportive atmosphere for young families. Social gatherings are a frequent affair here, perhaps at the Bullfrog Brewery for Quizzo, or just a day hike into the hills. Although Williamsport is "small town" in many ways, it also has an abundance of cultural life--from the Little League World Series and Community Arts Center, to shopping and great restaurants. Affordable housing has made it possible for me and my wife to really call Williamsport "home".

Celebrating Good Times

One of the strong suits of our Family Medicine Residency Program is the camaraderie that exists among the residents, faculty, staff and entire hospital community. This comes across when residents are seen socializing, supporting each other and getting together to have fun and share good times with each other. We plan trips, parties and each year in February, celebrate our annual Resident/Staff Beach Party. In the fall, we get creative and everyone, including the youngest members of our resident family, dons costumes and celebrates Halloween. Winter is a special time for holiday traditions in Williamsport. After all, "We Three Kings" was written right here. One of the Family Medicine Residency Program's long-standing traditions includes our caroling through the hospital and then out into the community, culminating with a progressive dinner at some of our medical staff's homes. We also exchange "Secret Santa" gifts and gather with faculty and staff for our own brand of merry-making. We are always creating new traditions based on the ideas and traditions of our diverse resident group.
