A Hospitalist is a doctor whose primary professional focus is the general medical care of hospitalized patients. Hospitalists do not have their own independent practice, but rather are on the hospital staff and are available 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week to admit patients through the Emergency department and to care for inpatients.
