Osteopathic Education

The Williamsport Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program was granted full accreditation for three years of osteopathic training by the American Osteopathic Association in 2007. Therefore, we are a dually accredited residency program offering comprehensive education for both allopathic and osteopathic residents. In fact, our program integrates the two professions from day one, making it a pleasant working environment with equal opportunities to excel, while at the same time allowing osteopathic residents to enhance their manipulation skills and maintain a unique identity among peers.

What are some of the advantages joining a dually accredited program?

  • Opportunity to take both the allopathic and osteopathic family medicine boards, thus becoming dually board certified by the ABFP and the AOBFP
  • Broadening your career opportunities
    • Ability to attain licensure in all 50 states
    • Teaching opportunities
    • Perhaps even becoming a residency program director
  • Sharing your knowledge of osteopathy with your allopathic colleagues
  • Being part of an optimal environment for education and professional growth
