The Williamsport Hospital affords a well-rounded academic and friendly environment for training. I would select it again without hesitation. Offering the essentials of community-based medicine as well as the challenges of large teaching hospitals, the Program's excellent attendings and clinical experiences amply prepare residents to be ultimately responsible for patient care.

Welcome from Our Allopathic Program Director

Welcome to The Williamsport Hospital & Medical Center's Family Medicine Residency Program. Established in 1972, our Program is one of the oldest such programs in the country and today, it has grown to become one of the premier Family Medicine residency programs in the eastern United States. Our reputation for fostering a learning environment that both stimulates and nurtures resident physicians attracts medical school graduates from across the country. Our graduates are highly sought after by area and regional hospitals and have received an impressive number of achievement awards and teaching positions in other residency programs and medical schools throughout the country.

Welcome from Our Osteopathic Program Director

Welcome to our dually-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program at The Williamsport Hospital and Medical Center. Providing a comprehensive osteopathic family medicine education is a premier goal that we take quite seriously. Our program offers the combined benefits of a strong, well-established medical education with that of a fully-integrated osteopathic curriculum. Osteopathic resident graduates pursuing a career in academic medicine have a competitive advantage by being eligible to take both the allopathic and osteopathic boards. Take some time to explore all that we have to offer.

Working toward our area’s becoming the healthiest community in the United States, all Susquehanna Health cafeterias are now “green”. In addition to recycling glass and plastic, all Styrofoam and oil-based items in the cafeterias have been replaced by plant-based plastics and/or recycled cardboard that are 100 percent biodegradable and compostable. Cups and containers will be made from Ingeo™, an ingenious new material, made from plants, not oil.

Outdoor Life magazine (March, 2008) ranks Williamsport as the #1 best place to live in Pennsylvania and #162, nationally, based on quality of life and sporting opportunities.
