Every year, 30 million Americans are exposed to hazardous noise that can lead to hearing loss, according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. Continued exposure to more than 85 decibels (dBs) of noise may cause permanent damage to hearing. Beyond that, stress-related symptoms often show in workers who are exposed to high noise levels, including high blood pressure, fatigue, irritability and tension.

A comprehensive range of hearing services provided through Susquehanna Health's WorkCenter meets the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and helps you keep your workers safe and healthy. Services include:

  • Convenient testing at your work site.
  • Testing available for all shifts, approximately 100 workers per shift.
  • Three sound-proof booths available in mobile screening unit.
  • Testing by a CAOHC certified technician.
  • Audiograms reviewed by a WorkCenter physician.
  • Audiograms categorized and compared to previous years.
  • Medical histories for each employee, reviewed and maintained.
  • Immediate verbal review of test results for employees.

We also offer:

  • Hearing conservation training and education.
  • Area noise monitoring.
  • Custom-molded earplugs.
  • Pre-employment baseline testing at The WorkCenter.
  • Acoustic calibrations and octave band analysis.

Noise-induced hearing loss is one of the most common occupational diseases and the second most self-reported occupational illness or injury. Make sure your workers are protecting their hearing and that your business meets the requirements stated by OSHA.
