When a patient’s initial evaluation is complete, a copayment may be requested based on insurance coverage. A copayment, similar to what is paid for a regular visit to the doctor’s office, varies by insurance company. The amount of a copayment is often listed on the insurance card. Please note that the copayment for an ED visit may be higher than the cost of doctor’s office visit or prescription.
Following an ED visit, a patient receives at least two bills. The doctor responsible for the patient’s care in the ED sends a bill for the care provided, while the hospital bills for the hospital visit. Additional billing will be issued for the reading of tests in the Radiology and Pathology departments.
Susquehanna Health works with most insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid. Our billing department files claims on the patient’s behalf. However, the patient is responsible for a portion of the bill, based on the rules determined by the insurance company. Financial counseling related to hospital billing is available upon request. Patients who do not have insurance will receive bills for the full amount. To initiate a payment plan, call 570-326-8196 or 1-800-433-0816 to speak with a hospital billing representative.
Patient Satisfaction Survey
Shortly after being released from the hospital, a patient may receive a survey requesting a rating based on their experience. This survey helps gather valuable feedback from patients to assist in improving performance and providing the highest quality of care. We strive to achieve the highest possible rating, so we ask our patients to provide feedback on our service and suggestions for how we can best meet your future health care needs.
