The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is specifically designed to provide confidential assessment and referral service for employees of Susquehanna Health and their dependents. The program is coordinated and provided by Susquehanna Behavioral Health Center.
This program deals with the problems of daily living—those that affect your personal and family relationships. When you are experiencing stress and problems on the job or in your home life, meeting your full potential may not be possible.
Employees and/or their dependents are eligible for up to three visits per benefit year free of charge. If further treatment is required, we recommend other options for the individual to pursue.
The EAP program also contracts with area businesses to provide services to their employees.
Did you know?
We are all prone to stress, especially working in the health system environment. It is sometimes difficult to know what to do when stress becomes overwhelming.
Some things to look out for
- Irritability
- Sleep problems (can’t fall asleep, awaken often, or have trouble getting up in the morning)
- Increased physical symptoms (headaches, stomach problems, rise in blood pressure or joint pain)
- Increased conflict with children, spouse or friends
- Increased sensitivity (things bother you more than they usually would)
- Job dissatisfaction (suddenly don’t like your job)
- Absenteeism (due to any of the above)
Solutions
- Educate yourself on stress reactions
- Try to notice if you are exhibiting symptoms
- Use techniques to manage stress (relaxation, exercise, hobbies, etc)
- Talk to people you trust about how you are feeling
- Use EAP support if needed to help guide you on managing stress
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at Susquehanna Behavioral Health is a service designed to help service partners (and their dependants) having difficulty managing aspects of daily living. Service partners are eligible for up to three free visits per calendar year.
