Adult Inpatient Unit

Our Inpatient Unit is located on the fifth floor of Divine Providence Hospital. It is a licensed 21-bed, short-term, intensive treatment program for adults 18 and older. Services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in a safe, monitored and comfortable atmosphere.

An individual may be admitted to the unit once he or she receives a medical evaluation by a doctor and it is determined that criteria has been met for acute psychiatric care. Patients are most commonly admitted from an emergency department, but may be referred by their family doctor, outpatient psychiatrist or therapist. A psychiatrist provides final approval for admission. Within the first 24 hours of admission, patients receive a psychiatric evaluation, physical examination and comprehensive nursing assessment. Further testing is provided when deemed necessary.
