When Shanna Keefer got pregnant with Jackson in August, her blood pressure started elevating rapidly. Dr. Leonard Collins monitored it closely for a few months, and gave her a shot to help Jackson’s lungs develop more quickly in case the team had to do an early C-section. Dr. Collin told Shanna, “If this was my grandbaby, that’s exactly what I’d want his doctor to do.” Shanna was really impressed with how much Dr. Collins cares about his patients.
When her blood pressure continued to escalate, the team at Susquehanna Health decided to do the C-section. Jackson was delivered 6 weeks early. Because he was premature, he had to stay in the special nursery ward until his lungs developed, while Shanna remained in maternity until the doctors could get her blood pressure down.
"They had a whole team of doctors looking after each of us, and I knew we were in good hands. But of course, I couldn’t wait to see my baby! The nurses wheeled me – with all of my monitors – into the nursery right next to where Jackson was laying, and he gripped my finger with his little hand. I felt that he knew I was his mommy."
"I’m glad I chose Susquehanna Health for my prenatal care and delivery. They made me feel like Jackson and I were their only patients! And most importantly, they helped him become the healthy little boy that he is today. Now he’s a chubby little guy!"
