At UPMC Susquehanna, we always put patients first. Our goal is provide patients the best care available right where they live, but to truly shape the future of health care at the highest quality and the lowest cost, we needed a strong partner. In 2016, Susquehanna Health found its perfect partner in UPMC, becoming UPMC Susquehanna. Since the affiliation, we’ve elevated our services to new heights.
UPMC’s economic strength and stability has empowered UPMC Susquehanna to invest in capital projects to further innovation and technology locally. In early 2018, we unveiled our pioneering $3.1 million Neurosciences Center. It is the only center in the U.S. featuring the Zeiss microscope in this particular Brainlab configuration, placing state-of-the-art tools into the hands of our accomplished neurosurgeons.
Over the past year, we welcomed six critical care surgeons in our journey toward Level II trauma designation and two gynecologic oncologists to provide highly-specialized cancer services, which will ensure rapid, highly specialized care is available 24-hours a day, 365-days a year right here in our community. To drive down the cost of care long-term, we also introduced UPMC Health Plan to keep prices competitive while continuing to accept all major insurances to preserve consumer choice. Over the past three months, we enrolled more than 10,000 new central Pennsylvania members into the #1 ranked insurance plan in the state for quality and consumer satisfaction.
When UPMC brings a community hospital into its network, it adopts the community as well, bringing credibility to its promises and elevating medicine in the entire region. High-performing hospitals are good for the physical health of patients and the fiscal health of the communities they serve. The investments made possible through UPMC’s partnership make our communities better, and our communities make us better,
