Quality Reporting and Initiatives
Recognizing that many people research hospitals before coming to them for specific care and services, we believe it is important to provide you with information about our hospital quality and patient safety measures. While this information can play a role in the decision-making process, it should not be the only area considered when selecting a hospital.
UPMC has provided high quality care to our communities for over 80 years. Part of our commitment to those we serve is to continually improve the quality and patient experience that we deliver.
We believe adherence to well-established medical practices produces better patient outcomes and reduces overall health care costs and that the the delivery of quality health care is a collaborative effort – involving everyone from hospital leadership, medical staff, nurses, pharmacists, and all who work to serve you. We make continuous efforts to improve our patients' experiences by anticipating their needs and exceeding their expectations. Reporting on quality and patient satisfaction helps us evaluate and improve the way we practice and deliver care, and the more information patients have, the more likely they are to make informed choices about their healthcare
UPMC voluntarily gathers and reports data for public reporting to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Pennsylvania Health Care Quality Alliance (PHCQA).
