Students wishing to job shadow:

Must arrange a shadow placement with a UPMC physician/staff member they intend to shadow prior to submitting a job shadow request.
Must be at least 14 years of age.
May not shadow more than 80 hours, no more than 8 hours per day, within a year timeframe.
May only observe professional activities under the direct supervision of a UPMC staff member.
May not perform any work.
Must be lawfully present in the United States.
Will be contacted by a UPMC Volunteer Coordinator once job shadow request form has been received.
Must provide proof of the required vaccinations listed below:
- MMR vaccine x 2
- Varicella vaccine x 2
- Hepatitis B vaccine x 3
- Flu vaccine between months of November – May

Job Shadowing at UPMC Williamsport, UPMC Williamsport Divine Providence Campus, UPMC Muncy, and facilities in Lock Haven

For job shadow opportunities at UPMC facilities in Lycoming and Clinton counties including UPMC Williamsport, UPMC Williamsport Divine Providence Campus, UPMC Muncy, and facilities in Lock Haven, candidates are required to contact the UPMC NCPA physician/service line who/where they would like to shadow and arrange for a placement that the physician/service line can accommodate. Please note that shadowing experiences are not guaranteed and are based solely on the availability of UPMC staff. Once a candidate has arranged a placement, they may submit a shadow request form. Pre-arranged placement will be verified by the Volunteer Services department.

Processing shadow requests takes four to six weeks.

A prospective candidate is not eligible to shadow until they receive final clearance by the UPMC Volunteer Services office.
