Dear Child Birth Education Participant,
Due to the potential for exposure and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for social distancing, UPMC is cancelling large group events. As a result, we are cancelling Child Birth Education classes for the remainder of April 2020.
We apologize for any inconvenience and request your patience as we seek to make the best decisions possible to keep everyone in our community healthy and safe while also doing our part to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Our patients, guests, employees and communities can be reassured that UPMC facilities and staff are well-equipped to properly care for patients with contagious diseases, including COVID-19, without exposing other patients, staff, or visitors. For current information about COVID-19 and what UPMC is doing to prepare, please visit www.upmc.com/coronavir us.
We would like to send out our lactation education book, please respond with your mailing address so we can send this out to you. If you have any questions, please call the Lactation office at 570-321-2092.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Director of Women's Services
Learn about the importance of breastfeeding/breast milk and tips on getting off to the best start. It is important to include partners and support people in this education. Breastfeeding is normal and natural but may not always be easy to start. Experience has shown parents who attend a class are better prepared for getting breastfeeding established. This class provides the opportunity to prepare for common challenges and learn ways to manage the early days and weeks of breastfeeding. This course is complimentary if you register for the Four-Week Childbirth Class.
If you would like more information but are unable to attend the class in person you can still register and obtain a class booklet with online material by emailing SUS-LactationTeam@upmc.edu or calling our Lactation Team at 570-321-2092.
