Giving Our Employees a Successful Start

Congratulations –– you have just joined a team of over 5,000 skilled, dedicated and committed partners who play an integral role in providing exceptional healthcare. As a new service partner of UPMC Susquehanna, we want you to have all the information you need to succeed in your new hospital career in PA.

We provide a safe and comfortable environment for all of our employees, starting with:

  • Pre-employment screening. All new employees must complete a pre-employment screening. You will be updated on your immunizations, given a TB skin test, a urine drug and nicotine screening, and physical evaluation. Questions regarding immunizations or health records will be addressed at the time of your screening. 
  • Pre-employment testing. During your pre-employment test in PA, you may be required to complete a lifting evaluation, which includes lifting up to 120 pounds, and other physical tasks including cardiovascular testing, range of motion and repetitive movements. It is advised that you bring a pair of comfortable shoes with you to this appointment.
  • New employee orientation. In order to ensure your first day goes smoothly, our human resources department offers new employee orientation to all of our recent hires. Orientation takes place on Mondays and lunch will be provided to you.
  • Explanation of benefits. At UPMC we offer comprehensive benefits, including paid time off, a retirement savings plan and a flexible benefits program.
