This Is Your Shot: Getting the Flu Shot in 2020

This year, your flu shot is more important than ever.

Flu viruses and the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19 will both spread from person-to-person in the months ahead, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But you can take steps to protect yourself, your family, and your community from the flu with your annual flu shot.

Though there is no vaccine for COVID-19, the flu vaccine is a safe and effective way to prevent contracting the flu and spreading it to others during the COVID-19 pandemic. At UPMC, we offer convenient options for getting your yearly flu shot.

Take the Next Step: Where to Get Your Flu Shot

Our hospitals and clinics have put in place precautions to help ensure you can safely access the care you need — especially the flu shot.

Contact your primary care provider’s office to learn more about getting your flu shot: by appointment, while in the office for another reason, at special flu shot clinics, and at drive-up or drive-through flu clinics (at their office location or other UPMC locations).
