Friends Raising Funds for Residents at The Green Home

by UPMC Susquehanna

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, Friends of Soldiers + Sailors has a lot to be grateful for — especially the dedicated support of donors who are turning dreams of cutting-edge health care technology into reality right here in Tioga County.

UPMC Senior Communities staff provide quality care at The Green Home in Wellsboro, helping patients receive the services and care they need close to home. With the help of community donations from this year’s campaign, Friends of Soldiers + Sailors plans to purchase It’s Never 2 Late (iN2L) to augment the resident’s daily activities and enhance their overall quality of life—both mentally and physically.

“The Green Home plays an important role in our community by caring for an aging population, post-surgery patients going through rehabilitation, and individuals with dementia,” said Janie Hilfiger, president, UPMC Susquehanna Soldiers + Sailors and UPMC Cole. “iN2L, combines touch screen computers with intuitive, picture-based software and an extensive, continually updated content library to provide a personalized experience for each resident. It can be utilized for restorative therapy, family interaction, or leisure purposes, as well as in group settings or one-on-one.”

The goal of the campaign is $38,000 for the purchase a customizable and mobile system. Thanks to Citizens & Northern Bank, your donation can go further as they provide $4,500 in matching funds toward the campaign.

Friends of Soldiers + Sailors share a special commitment to UPMC Susquehanna through an annual tax-deductible membership gift of $100 or more. Membership funds are used to purchase vital equipment and expand community health programs.

The 2019 Friends of Soldiers + Sailors Committee includes Roger Bunn, Bonelyn Kyofski, Joseph R. Maresco, Maryann Maresco, Bev McKnight, Anne McNaight, June Rudy, Sue Sticklin, and Ann Vayansky.
