UPMC COVID-19 Donations of Items Procedure
UPMC is committed to doing everything within our power to ensure a safe environment for our patients and staff. We have enough supply of personal protective equipment and cleaning solutions to meet current demands across UPMC, and we acquire new supplies daily.
We are humbled by the outpouring of support from the community interested in donating supplies to ensure we are prepared for the potential rise in COVID-19 cases across the regions we serve.

Sewn Cloth Masks
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) have released statements indicating that sewn cotton or polyester face masks may be used in situations of extreme shortage of personal protective equipment, but there is no evidence that sewn cloth masks protect from exposure to COVID-19 or other viruses. UPMC is looking to purchase sewn masks to be used in non-patient care, non-hazardous areas only so we can diligently review the quality of the materials and ensure safe handling of the masks. Our top priority is keeping our patients and staff safe. Because of this, we will not be accepting sewn mask donations at this time.
