UPMC Susquehanna Invites Women to the Biggest Dance Party for Better Overall Health

by UPMC Susquehanna

UPMC Susquehanna’s Spirit of Women program will hold its annual Day of Dance event Saturday, February 18, 10 am to 2 pm, at the Williamsport Branch YMCA, 641 Walnut Street, Williamsport.

Women who sign up for free Spirit of Women membership are eligible to attend this dance filled day that focuses on women’s health. The event includes fitness dance demonstrations attendees can participate in, free health screenings, shopping, giveaways and prizes.

Attendees will be able to participate in Power Yoga, Hip Hop, Hot Hula, African Dance and many other demonstrations that will take place throughout the day, as well as health screenings for spinal health, knee pain, blood pressure, and information on exercises to correct weaknesses.

This is the sixth year UPMC Susquehanna will participate in this nationwide event to create healthier communities. Day of Dance expects to attract over 300 women.

“Incorporating dance into your exercise routine is not only fun, it can be beneficial to everyone. We’re excited to have women in our community enjoy in dance, aerobics, and many other health and wellness activities at Day of Dance. UPMC Susquehanna is thrilled and proud to participate in this nationwide, fun, overall health initiative,” said Tonya Welshans, Spirit of Women Coordinator at UPMC Susquehanna.

UPMC Susquehanna launched its Spirit of Women membership program in October of 2011 and recently welcomed its 5,000th member. Members receive free or discounted health screenings and classes, invitations to member’s only events, ongoing health and wellness information and a loyalty card to give access to special offers from area businesses.

Spirit of Women’s goal is to motivate and inspire women to make positive changes to lead their best, healthiest life. The program wants to empower women to guide their own wellness journey while recognizing that women are often pulled in many directions and often to do not take time to care for themselves.

The event is only open to members who register, but anyone can become a member.  The class schedule is available at www.SusquehannaWomen.org. To register for the event, call 1-888-720-8461.
