UPMC Susquehanna Is Looking to Grow Its Team
Whether you’re just starting out your nursing career or have been in the field for years, UPMC Susquehanna is looking for individuals ranging from LPNs to clinicians, to join our team of talented clinical staff.
Lauren White, RN, has worked at UPMC Susquehanna on 7 East in the Med-Surg unit for nine years, and is growing and learning every day.
Q: What do you love about being a nurse?
A: Being there for patients and families when they are at their worst, and being able to support them through that difficult time in whatever way is needed.
Q: What do you love about 7 East?
A: I’ve never been a ‘work family’ kind of person, but in the last couple years, this work group has become a family to me. I’ve never felt the teamwork quite like I have on 7 East. Everyone is really supportive and always willing to help each other.
Cancer is difficult for everyone, and working with cancer patients I’m there to be the person that holds their hand when they get their diagnosis – it’s an experience I can’t describe.
Q: Why would you recommend 7 East to a new nurse?
A: In med-surg you get to see everything, something is different every day. I have been on the unit for nine years and I still learn something new every day. I am able to use all of my skill set rather than be focused on a specialty. On this floor, you can grow with the unit. You have the opportunity to move to various roles and have the opportunity to do and see a lot.
