UPMC Susquehanna Welcomes New Medical Director for Trauma Program

ElefantUPMC Susquehanna welcomes Ronen Elefant, MD, as the new medical director for UPMC Susquehanna’s Acute Care Surgery and Trauma Program.

Dr. Elefant received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, Bronx, N.Y. and completed his residency in general surgery at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa. He received his fellowship training in surgical critical care at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Baltimore, Md. Dr. Elefant previously gained experience as both a trauma and acute care surgeon and a surgical intensivist at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Conn.

“UPMC Susquehanna is on a three year journey, transforming UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport from an excellent community hospital to an outstanding trauma center,” says Dr. Elefant. “This transformation brings necessary services and a new level of care to the region allowing some of the most critically injured and sickest patients to remain local. I am excited and honored to be a part of it.”

UPMC Susquehanna’s Acute Care Surgery and Trauma Program is located at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport, 700 High St., Williamsport.
