UPMC Susquehanna Welcomes New Neurosurgeon

 UPMC Susquehanna welcomes neurosurgeon Philip Hlavac, MD, to the neurosciences team.

Dr. Hlavac earned his medical degree at Albany Medical College, Albany, N.Y. where he also completed his residency in neurosurgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

With over 19 years of experience, Dr. Hlavac spent the last seven years as a neurosurgeon at Penn State Hershey Neurosurgery at Wyoming Valley, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. before joining UPMC Susquehanna.

“As a neurosurgeon I have always been fascinated by the complexity of our bodies and the innate ability of a person to heal from conditions or injuries,” says Dr. Hlavac. “As a clinician, I strive to offer a number of options for treatment which may include surgery. In addition I believe it is import to educate patients about their conditions.”

Dr. Hlavac will see patients at the Neuroscience Center at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport located on the third floor of the Health Innovation Center, 740 High Street, Williamsport.
