Medical Library Services
Research Requests
Anyone wishing to search the medical literature should start with PubMed® or one of the other resource links on the Medical Library home page. The Library's professional staff will perform literature searches on request. There is a charge for this service to anyone not employed by or affiliated with Susquehanna Health.
Public users may also access health information databases via computers in the library during normal operating hours.
Articles
Users may photocopy journal articles in the Library for a nominal per-page fee.
The Library participates in free interlibrary loan agreements with members of the Susquehanna Library Cooperative and with many of the libraries represented in the Central Pennsylvania Health Sciences Library Association. You may be able to obtain articles through your own library at little or no cost.
Citations retrieved by searching PubMed® or the NLM Gateway may be ordered through the Loansome Doc® feature. Ordering articles through Loansome Doc requires the user to register as a participant and to establish an agreement with a medical library that uses DOCLINE® (NLM's automated interlibrary loan request and referral system). For more information, read the Loansome Doc Fact Sheet or NLM's Frequently Asked Questions on Getting Articles and Ordering Books.
The Medical Library charges a fee per article for Loansome Doc service and may require pre-payment in certain instances.
