Financial Preparations & Payment Plans
UPMC requires that payment be made at the time of service for any amount not covered by your insurance provider. Any and all co-payments and insurance deductibles will be considered deposits and are due at the time of service.
If you don’t have insurance, the total estimated hospital bill (not counting any initial deposits made) will be due when you are discharged from the hospital or outpatient clinic. If you are unable to pay the full amount at discharge, we will connect you with a financial counselor to help review your payment options and set up a payment plan. Payment can be made in the form of cash, check, debit card or credit card, as well as electronic funds transfer from your banking institution.
When possible, be sure to review which medical services are covered by your insurance policy. We encourage you to confirm with your insurance provider if health care services are covered by your policy, and understand how much of your bill you will be responsible for paying.
