Thyroid cancer:

Follicular thyroid cancer. This type of thyroid cancer develops inside the follicular cells of the thyroid gland.

Thyroid lymphoma. This is a very rare type of thyroid cancer that develops inside the immune system cells.

Medullary thyroid cancer. This type of thyroid cancer develops inside the C cells of the thyroid gland.

- Hypothyroidism— occurs when your thyroid gland isn’t active enough. The disease means that not enough thyroid hormone exists in the blood stream. Hypothyroidism is more common in women.
- Hyperthyroidism— means your thyroid gland is overactive. If your thyroid is too active, it makes more thyroid hormones than your body needs. Hyperthyroidism is common in women and people over the age of 60.
