Your First-Time Pregnancy at UPMC Susquehanna
If this is your first time being pregnant, you may have a lot of questions or be unsure of how to provide the best care to your child and yourself. The Nurse-Family Partnership is a program for low-income, first-time moms in the Williamsport area. You can enroll early on in your pregnancy, up to your 28th week.
More on the Nurse-Family Partnership Program
A specialized maternal/child nurse visits you at home during your pregnancy and may continue until your baby turns two years old, providing education and support in childbirth and childcare. Many new mothers find that this service makes their experience less stressful and more enjoyable.
Not only will you learn how to be the best mom possible through keeping your baby safe and aiding in its development, but you'll also learn about your own healthy lifestyle, the community services available to you and how to create a larger set of goals for yourself.
Meetings will vary depending on how you're doing and the schedule you and your nurse agree upon. Your nurse may even want to meet you in other places of interest, such as the library, to help you experience fun learning opportunities with your child.
