Medical Tests for Applicants and Employees
We provide customized employee physical examinations and testing to promote workplace health.
Pre-placement and post-offer exams
These tests are designed to match an applicant’s physical abilities to the demands of the job. Depending on the specific requirements, exams may include strength testing, essential function testing, and more to ensure the prospect can carry about daily tasks safely and effectively.
Fitness for Duty (FFD) exams
If you’re concerned about a current employee’s ability to perform the essential functions of the job, we’re here to help provide the medical evidence you need to decide. Our physicians can perform these exams before an employee’s return to work after an injury or illness, or when there are safety concerns and a medical issue may be the cause.
A DOT physical is designed to assess the overall health of employees hired to drive and operate certain types of commercial vehicles. All exams are performed by a UPMC Susquehanna physician who is specially certified and complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME). A DOT physical exam is valid for up to 24 months, or we may issue a medical examiner’s certificate for less than that period when we need to monitor a condition, such as high blood pressure.
OSHA-required surveillance exams
We provide ongoing, OSHA-compliant testing for employees who work in settings where hazards may exist. This may include respirator, asbestos, HAZMAT/HAZWOPER, lead, and cadmium exams. Our goal is to help prevent illness or injury throughout the working environment, including identifying any adjustments to help keep your employees safe and healthy.
