Hand Surgery Program

We diagnose and treat many conditions of the hands and fingers.

  • Nerve compression syndromes — also known as pinched nerves. They happen when nerves pass through small spaces in the hand and become compressed.
  • Carpal tunnel — swelling of tendons in the wrist puts pressure on the nerve that travels to the hand. This pressure causes numbness in hand and fingers.
  • Cubital tunnel — the nerve from neck to hand can become compressed or irritated. This causes hand pain or numbness.
  • Trigger fingers — swelling of the tendons that flex your fingers. It can cause pain, stiffness, and a sensation of locking or catching when you bend and straighten your finger.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis —autoimmune disorder resulting in inflammation, pain, stiffness. Rheumatoid arthritis can cause permanent damage to joints and internal organs.
  • Degenerative arthritis — painful, swollen joints can happen naturally as you age. They also occur in younger people who are prone to developing arthritis.

  • Dupuytren's contracture — a hand deformity where knots of tissue form under the skin. These knots create a cord that pulls fingers into a bent position.

  • Vasospastic disorders —when small blood vessels near the surface of the skin spasm. This limits blood flow, making hands feel cold.
  • Wrist pain — chronic joint pain that makes small motor movements painful. It can be from arthritis, injury, or over over-activity.
  • Tendonitis — inflammation or irritation of a tendon in the hand. It often comes from a repetitive action like gardening, raking, or playing sports.

We treat all traumatic injuries in the hand, wrist, and forearm, including:

  • Fractures — a broken bone, which can be anything from a small crack to a separated bone that has moved out of place.
  • Tendon injuries — injuries to the soft tissues that connect muscles and joints. They result in pain and swelling.
  • Ligament strains and dislocations — happen when the end of the bone connected to a joint moves out of place.
